The phoenix became a personal emblem during a time of transformation toward a full-time creative practice. This significant shift in identity and purpose brought about its own chaotic energy, as ideas and inspirations stoked a passion that consumed the old and alchemized into a stronger foundation. A length of embroidery thread runs through creating a spine, a sliver of order to cling to while riding out the raging hot storm. The chaos is contained within the boundaries, but the spine extends above and below, seeking a place to root.
